Create a Project from a Template

Start a new client project using reusable phases, milestones, tasks, offsets, and defaults.

Create a Project from a Template

Use a project template when your team repeats a similar delivery motion for multiple customers.

Before You Start

Confirm that:

  • The client account exists.
  • The project template is active and up to date.
  • Required roles, phases, milestones, and task defaults are configured.
  • You have permission to create projects.

Steps

  1. Open Project Templates.
  2. Select the template that matches the engagement.
  3. Review phases, milestones, task defaults, offsets, and durations.
  4. Start a new project from the template.
  5. Select the customer account.
  6. Set the project name, start date, owner, and visibility.
  7. Review generated phases, milestones, and tasks.
  8. Assign project team members or leave assignments for resource planning.
  9. Save the project.

After Creation

Review:

  • Project health and status.
  • Task due dates.
  • Milestone dates.
  • Resource assignments.
  • Budget and billing settings.
  • Client portal visibility.

Copilot Prompt

Try:

Create a project for Medicaleshop from the onboarding template starting next Monday.

Copilot should draft the project details for review before any data-changing action runs.

Troubleshooting

If the template is not available:

  • Check whether the template is active.
  • Confirm you have access to project templates.
  • Ask an admin to review plan features and permissions.

If generated dates look wrong:

  • Check the project start date.
  • Review template offsets and durations.
  • Confirm weekends and holidays are handled as expected by your process.
